Ave Maria! Fifteenth Sunday after Pentecost—5 September A.D. 2010
I said that even though there seemed to be less of the “jack-booted” variety of Communism in the world today, Russia had indeed spread her intellectual errors throughout Western Civilization and even throughout Christendom. This past Wednesday (1 September AD 2010) we had a terrible incident confirming precisely the effect that cultural Marxism is having on the thinking of Americans. An unfortunate fellow—a suicide bomber, named James J. Lee—entered the offices of the Discovery Channel with a gun and several homemade bombs, demanding that they change their television programming to conform to a “Manifesto” that he had published on the Internet.[2] (I have a copy of it if anyone wants to read it—but be forewarned that it is pretty deranged.) I will quote a few lines: Lee wrote that “Focus must be given on how people can live WITHOUT giving birth to more filthy human children since those new additions continue pollution and are pollution. A game show format contest would be in order. Perhaps also forums of leading scientists who understand and agree with the Malthus-Darwin science and the problem of human overpopulation.”[3] “... talk about ways to disassemble civilization.... Civilization must be exposed for the filth it is. That, and all its disgusting religious-cultural roots and greed.... Find solutions for Global Warming, Automotive pollution, International Trade, factory pollution, and the whole blasted human economy. Find ways so that people don't build more housing pollution which destroys the environment to make way for more human filth! Find solutions so that people stop breeding as well as stopping using Oil in order to REVERSE Global warming and the destruction of the planet!” “Develop shows that mention the Malthusian sciences about how food production leads to the overpopulation of the Human race. Talk about Evolution. Talk about Malthus and Darwin until it sinks into the stupid people's brains until they get it!!” “Saving the Planet means saving what's left of the non-human Wildlife by decreasing the Human population. That means stopping the human race from breeding any more disgusting human babies!” “Saving the environment and the remaning [sic] species diversity of the planet is now your mindset. Nothing is more important than saving them. The Lions, Tigers, Giraffes, Elephants, Froggies, Turtles, Apes, Raccoons, Beetles, Ants, Sharks, Bears, and, of course, the Squirrels. “The humans? The planet does not need humans.” Now you might ask, how is this Marxist? Perhaps the biggest clue is that the cultural Marxists have been trying to replace the worship of God with a worship of the Earth as a sort of “goddess.” Real religion doesn't go well with Marxism, and Earth worship helps to fill that empty space in the human soul that yearns for God. For the Marxist, men and women are just accidents of nature, not created in the image of any deity. The pseudo-science of Darwin and Malthus is called upon to replace the revelation of Genesis. While human beings clearly have an obligation to preserve the environment for future generations, the Earth-worshiping Marxist carries ecological concerns to a fanatical degree, precisely because he knows that such fanaticism is capable of crippling Western Civilization economically. Capping and taxing the carbon dioxide emissions of the Western World will reduce the entire world to poverty. Remember that carbon dioxide is not a pollutant, but is the essential basis for all plant life on earth. There are today, more polar bears that any time in our history, the ocean is not rising, and the past few winters have been record setting in both hemispheres. Actual Marxist economies are not held to any environmental standard whatsoever. Under Communism, the Russians reduced the Aral Sea to a dumping ground, and Peking has the most polluted air on the planet. If “all the people” own something, no one owns it, and no one takes care of it. And, do not forget that the Global Warming crowd has positioned itself to make lots of money exchanging “carbon credits” with un-industrialized nations. Fostering hatred or fear of human children is an attempt to promote the evils of birth control and abortion—the human sacrifice demanded by the Earth-worshipers—the mortal sin it is known to be in Christendom. Women are not created to be workers for the state, identical to men. The pseudo-science of Thomas Malthus has proven to be wrong, precisely because free enterprise develops new and ingenious ways to feed increasing numbers of people. Indeed Western Civilization is not in danger of a so-called “population explosion,” for most Westerners are not even having the necessary 2.1 children to just barely replace themselves. The European average is about 1.4, England about 1.8, and the United States about 2.05—close but still a population on its way to extinction.[4] The cultural Marxists are delighted that Western Civilization will be over run by third world peoples. We love our dogs and our cats, but it is preposterous to give them rights equal to human beings—let alone assigning “rights” to “Froggies, Turtles, Apes, Raccoons, Beetles, [and] Ants.” Yet Marxism relies precisely on the destruction of individual rights in favor of a collective. Marxism repudiates the idea of people “endowed with unalienable rights by their Creator.” And certainly, the pseudo-science of Darwinian evolution suggests that the Marxists are right. Fortunately, the suicide bomber/eco-terrorist was stopped before he was able to injure anyone. May God have mercy on his soul! I mention this insanity today because, while the public media reported what happened on Wednesday, they generally ignored its implications. Indeed, they often tend to hold some of the same positions as our eco-terrorist—positions that may lead to serious sin and to the decline of Christendom and Western Civilization. And since these positions are culturally Marxist, or at least friendly to cultural Marxism, they are often made issues in our political process. And that is to say, that all of you who vote need to become familiar with such things and vote accordingly. Be suspicious when you hear bold claims
being made about the Earth and human environment. Be suspicious of
politicians who refer to their claims as “settled science” or who insist
that there is “no time to think” before we act according to their theories.
There is always a cost to change—sometimes a moral cost, sometimes just an
economic cost, but serious economic costs always introduce a moral dimension of
their own. If you have trouble deciding who is right, keep those two verses from Genesis in mind—what has been revealed by God cannot be wrong!
