"Universis et singulis has litteras inspecturis: SALUTEM IN DOMINO."
Reading of the Mandate.

The Bishop-elect is thoroughly examined as to his beliefs:

"Will you receive, keep, and teach with reverence the traditions of the orthodox fathers, and the decretal constitutions of the Holy and Apostolic See?"
"I will."

"Will you exhibit in all things fidelity, submission, obedience, according to canonical authority, to Blessed Peter the Apostle, to whom was given by God the power of binding and loosing, to his Vicar our Holy Father , Pope Benedict XVI and to his successors the Roman Pontiffs?"
"I will."

"Do you believe that the the Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church is the one true Church, in which there is but one Baptism and the true remission of all sins?"
"I believe."

The consecrating bishop begins Mass, incensing the main altar.
At the same time, the bishop-elect begins Mass at a separate altar.

The Mass is interrupted just before the Gospel.
Kýrie eléison. Christe eléison.
The bishop-elect lies prostrate before the altar as we chant the Litany of the saints

The Book of the Gospels is placed upon the neck and shoulders of the bishop-elect.
Each of the consecrating bishops lay hands on his head, the matter of the Sacrament,
and then recite the consecratory preface containing the essential form of the Sacrament:
"Comple in sacerdóte tuo ministérii tui summam, et ornaméntis totíus glorificatiónis instrúctum, cæléstis unguénti rore sanctífica.—Fill up in Thy priest the fullness of Thy ministry...."

A chaplain binds the head of the newly consecrated bishop with a long strip of linen.

The consecrator anoints the head, and later the hands, of the new bishop with Holy Chrism.

The crosier and and ring are blessed and given to the new bishop.
